Reviews about Junction True Value Hardware
- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆April 27, 2019, by Jon ConleyExpensive and Only Good for Last Minute Purchases If you have a big project, this store really isn't equipped for it. Although, surprisingly, they do have a nice selection of chainsaws. Their business hours are inconvenient if you get off of work at rush hour, a few of the cashiers are grumpy, and just about everything is overpriced ($5 color-tipped house keys).. It's rare that I go out of my way to recommend a Big Box Store over a smaller chain, but -- yeah, you really would be better served going to Home Depot in most cases. Some of the employees (in my experience, the grumpy female cashiers) at this True Value are so by-the-book that it's annoying. Most of the guys are really helpful (the opposite of the White Center Home Depot, hilariously enough), but their inventory is pretty limited for most projects. They do allow you to recycle batteries and bulbs with heavy metals for"free" (you pay a tax for that), but your luck may vary. For example, I purchased a bunch of CFL bulbs (which come with a "recycling tax") and brought in my burnt out bulbs to safely dispose of them. I was told they would only take eight of them per visit. I had ten, and they wouldn't budge on that policy. The cashier told me I could bring the other two back the next day. I explained that I replaced all of my bulbs with the pack she sold me the previous day, but she refused to take the spent bulbs beyond eight. Most people, at that point, just give up and throw them in the garbage (or just leave them there anyway). Pretty stupid. Simple tools, such as hammers, can run you $25, which is nuts, given the quality. And they're so inquisitive about the most basic unopened returns that it could be the plot for a Seinfeld episode. Otherwise, I would probably skip this place unless it's more convenient than a trip to White Center for Home Depot. And if you need to make a copy of your apartment key (with the landlord's permission, of course), make the miserable trip to WalMart in Renton or Federal Way where you can cut them yourself, for very little money, without being scolded here; unless you luck out and get one of the guys who doesn't try to police your personal life like some of the ladies do for some reason.
